How to find the special one

Finding the right person is never an easy task to undertake, the painstaking mission of trying to find someone who’s values and morals align with yours. We have all made mistakes in the past and I’m certain that there are plenty of moments that you wished you had “never gone there”. When we are looking to meet the right person it’s important that we realize that not everyone has our best interests at heart. The beauty of hindsight is that we can learn from our mistakes and hopefully never make them again… Unfortunately we cannot look into the future to determine the outcome of our choices, nor can we remove the surreptitious guise that masks the people that walk into your life. However we can arm ourselves with sound tactics to ensure that we are not blind-sighted by some charming charlatan. We have all experienced it before that suave sweet talker whose only objective is to get your business. They waltz into your life with all the right answers and they know exactly what to say to get what they want. But how do you differentiate between the ones who just want you for the short term and the ones you can have a real relationship with.

Finding the right agent can be complicated, at the end of the day it comes down to what you need in terms of support and communication. You may just be looking for a quick one-off transaction, or alternatively someone who is going to be reliable and fulfil all your real estate needs now and in the future. When meeting new people it’s always essential that you ask the right questions, to truly screen what they are after and if you are both on the same page. Whether you’re looking for someone to facilitate the management, sale or purchase of your home we encourage you perform your due diligence. We have devised some key questions to help expedite your evaluation as to whether this person is Mr/Mrs Right or Right Now:

  • What is your experience as a real estate agent?
  • Are you employed full time or part time as an agent?
  • How long have you worked in this particular location?
  • How many property sales/leases were you involved with last year?
  • How many properties do you currently have listed?
  • What do you perceive your personal strengths are as a real estate agent?
  • What do you think our property is worth in the current market and how did you arrive at that figure?
  • Which marketing strategy do you suggest is the best one to pursue for our property?
  • Do you conduct your own open for inspections through the campaign?
  • Do you have any testimonials to back up what you have said?

From these key questions you should be able to develop a better understanding of whom you intend to put your trust in, especially with a decision of grand proportion. It’s always wise to ask your friends/family about whether they have heard about this person and if they have any positive or negative experiences to share. Bad news travels quickly, and there is always a chance that you may not be the only person who has had any interaction your potential significant other. It may be advantageous to observe how they act in their own social settings, by seeing how they present themselves around others (at their open homes or auctions). This may offer insight as to whether they will behave in the same manner around you or with your assets. If you find their actions and demeanor meets your personal requirements you may be a compatible match. Regardless of what other people may lead you to believe it is at the end of the day your decision, however hopefully now you will have the knowledge of how to vet your possible suitors.

We write this with hope that everything falls into place on your search for your future real estate agent, and that you feel confident to stay in a supportive long-term relationship with them.
